Career highlight: I have been fortunate enough to be involved in the North American Chemical Workshop for over 10 years. I served as President and was so honored that scientists I admire would trust me with that responsibility.
Luckiest break: Having a fantastic mentor who was generous with their time and knowledge and pushed me out of my comfort zone. And that’s why mentoring and training is so important to me.
Challenges facing the field: The biggest roadblocks aren’t technical. We are all learning, exploring and striving to build better methods – that is the fun part. But our efforts are hampered by the economic pressure felt by many labs, combined with regulations that are ambiguous at best – and, at worst, nonsensical.
