Motivation: To be a contributor in an emerging market like this is both provocative and wonderfully exciting. Unpredictable challenges arise almost daily in areas such as quality assurance, production variation, analytical matrix interference, regulatory translation, and compliance support. It makes for a very stimulating time – intellectually, commercially, and socially.
Most exciting project: Our work on the interference of the chocolate matrix during THC potency testing, which shows that the chocolate matrix interferes with THC recovery due to the molecular configurations of the cannabinoid molecule. It’s just the beginning of our understanding of matrix–cannabinoid interactions – there are so many different matrices yet to study.
