Cannabis industry origin story: Around 2013, I began getting contacted by people in the cannabis industry wanting advice on CO2-based extraction, a technique I have over 50 years of experience in. I realized this was an exciting new application and began to immerse myself in cannabis science and technology.
Motivation: Conveying knowledge and seeing people succeed as a result. I am heavily invested in sharing knowledge via conventional teaching, short courses, on-line events, and publishing.
Proudest career moment: Being recognized by the American Chemical Society with the Kenneth A Spencer Award for Outstanding Achievement in Agricultural & Food Chemistry for my work in extraction technology. I was nominated for this award in 2003, so it was quite a surprise after all of those years to finally receive it!
