Raphael Mechoulam needs no introduction. The “father of cannabis research”, his work paved the way for all of the scientists working with cannabinoids today. Recently, he was awarded the Harvey Prize in Chemical Engineering and Medical Sciences.
Roger Pertwee is another hero of cannabinoid pharmacology, who worked with Mechoulam to identify the first endocannabinoid, anandamide, and is now exploring the possibilities of allosteric modulation of CB1 receptors.
Cecilia Hillard, a professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin, is carrying out groundbreaking work on the biochemistry of cannabinoids.
