Predictions?
We're starting to see consumers become hyper specific about what they want out of cannabis flower. Terpene profiles, breeding history, and even cultivation practices used to produce the flower are things that today's pickiest of consumers are asking at retail cannabis shops. As the niche of the 'cannasseur' becomes bigger, we're going to see a massive marketing push that emphasizes the science behind the product itself.
If you weren’t working in the cannabis industry, what would you be doing?
I would likely be researching high energy density, plant-derived biofuels. While more traditional 'green energy' sources, like wind and solar, have done a lot in recent years to help reduce the rate at which we release carbon for energy, it's not enough to slow climate change. You know what's better than carbon-neutral energy generation? Carbon-NEGATIVE energy generation. That's something that is definitely achievable and is something that we really need to emphasize.
