Predictions?

I think we are going to see some really exciting clinical trial data published to hopefully underpin further market authorisations of medicines for various conditions. I also think we will see the emergence of a new class of cannabinoid therapeutics based on innovative delivery systems.

Advice?

Clinical academia is often frustrating, and you will face many more rejections than successes along the way, so the most important thing is to choose an area of research which you really enjoy and which motivates you. It is also important to work with colleagues that inspire and support you, and you will find that the difficult moments become much more tolerable.

Finally, despite the daily pressures that come with being a clinical academic it is important to allocate time and balance for other things that you enjoy and enrich your life, such as family and music, which invariably will make you a better and more rounded doctor and researcher.
